6^TH FEBRUARY 2024 – PRESS CONFERENCE TO MARK THE NEXT SET OF HEARINGS OF THE SHEKU BAYOH INQUIRY

There will be a statement by the family’s Aamer Anwar and the Bayoh Family at 9:30am on the 6^th of February, outside Capital House, 2 Festival Square, Edinburgh, EH3 9SU

There will be a vigil organised by the STUC outside the inquiry from 9am onwards, in solidarity with the Bayoh family.

The next set of hearings will look at the Post Incident Management of the Police Investigation & Review Commissioner (PIRC) and Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).

This week the inquiry is due to hear from Keith Harrower, Alastair Lewis and William Little of PIRC.  This section of the evidence is critical as it relates to the investigation of the death of Sheku Bayoh- the family felt betrayed by PIRC & that they failed to carry out a robust & impartial investigation.
