Aamer Anwar & Co Nominated for Legal Awards in Four Categories

Aamer Anwar & Company is proud to have been shortlisted as a finalist in the Scottish Legal Awards 2022 in the following categories:

• Criminal Defence Team of the Year
• Firm of the Year
• Lawyer of the Year
• Paralegal of the Year

This year will be the 19th year that the Scottish Legal Awards has rewarded the Scottish law sector. The Scottish Legal Awards is an independent awards programme that aims to highlight the work of individuals, teams and firms working in Scottish law throughout the past year. This year, Lorna Jack, former CEO of the Law Society of Scotland, will join the programme this year as Chair of the judging panel. For the 2022 awards, there are 16 separate categories, and Aamer Anwar & Company has been shortlisted as finalists in four of them, including Firm of the Year, for which there is a record high number of eight firms shortlisted. The awards also do their part for charity, by raising funds for the LawScot foundation, which supports students in pursuing a career in law and It’s Good 2 Give.

Aamer Anwar, shortlisted for Lawyer of the Year award, remarked: “It’s an honour to be shortlisted for Lawyer of the Year 2022 by the Scottish Legal Awards after having previously won the award in 2017 and being awarded Solicitor of the Year in the Heralds Law Awards of Scotland in 2016. I graduated with an LLB from Strathclyde University School of Law in 1999. In nearly three decades of fighting to give a voice to the voiceless, since becoming a lawyer I have been inspired by the individuals and families who never give up fighting for justice.

I am proud that our firm has set parameters in the justice debate, sometimes influencing events beyond Scotland, building, whilst building a fearsome reputation in cutting edge civil liberties law.”
