Trainseeship – Commencing Autumn 2022
We are inviting applications for a traineeship to commence in Autumn 2022 within our FIRM, working primarily within our Civil Actions & Inquiries Unit, but also our criminal department.
We have a vacancy for a first-year trainee to commence in Autumn 2022. We may also consider a second-year trainee who wishes to assign. The successful candidate will be based at our Glasgow office, but travel will be required, so a full driving license is necessary. It is essential that the trainee has a genuine interest in Public Inquiry and criminal work, with a passion for human rights.
With our casework including the Sheku Bayoh Public Inquiry, pending Scottish and UK Covid-19 Public Inquiries, Fatal Accident Inquiries, civil actions against the state as well as a substantial criminal defence practice, this is an opportunity for a trainee who wants to work at the cutting edge of law. Our firm’s ethos is a commitment to the pursuit of justice, and we have built a fearsome reputation in civil liberties law. This is an exciting moment to be at the heart of one of Scotland’s leading law firms.
Applicants need excellent communication, computer, and interpersonal skills with the ability to prove they can always work well on a team while maintaining a high-level of professionalism and presentation. Having excellent attention to detail is essential, as well as the ability to work under one’s own initiative and under pressure to challenging deadlines. Given the complex and varied caseload which we handle, strong research skills are essential to this role.
Our firm operates a different business model than that of traditional law firms. This makes for a relaxed and friendly working environment despite the demanding nature of our work during challenging times. We highly value our employees and work to ensure that all staff members feel like an integral part of a team. This firm is committed to providing a successful candidate with all the right training and, more importantly, support so that our trainee completes all the outcomes required by PEAT 2.
No two days are the same at Aamer Anwar & Co. This makes this an exciting opportunity for any lawyer at the start of his or her legal career. All categories of degree will be considered. We want a trainee who can hit the ground running. As such, previous legal and/or other relevant work experience will be of considerable advantage.
Please note we are equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from a diverse background.
All applications and queries will be treated in total confidence. If you are interested, please email your CV and cover letter by 1st October 2022 to attn: Mark/Aamer at office@aameranwar.com
