PRESS RELEASE: HEARING 2 OF THE SHEKU BAYOH PUBLIC INQUIRY STARTS TUESDAY 31ST JANUARY 2022 LOOKING AT POLICE SCOTLAND’S POST INCIDENT MANAGEMENT
Hearing 2 of the Public Inquiry into the death of Sheku Bayoh in police custody starts on Tuesday the 31st of January 2023. This Hearing will focus on Police Scotland’s post incident management procedures after initial police contact with Sheku Bayoh.
For the first time the Inquiry will hear evidence from Sheku’s family members. Kadi Johnson, Sheku’s sister, is expected to give evidence from 10am tomorrow, 31st of January. The family believe the evidence heard tomorrow will be critical as to the role of Police Scotland and the PIRC in the immediate aftermath of Sheku Bayoh’s death.
The family are aware a vigil has been organised for outside Capital House to mark the start of Hearing 2. The family of Sheku Bayoh will arrive at 9:30am.
