PRESS RELEASE – 4TH MARCH 2024 – THE FAMILY OF EMMA CALDWELL WILL MEET WITH THE FIRST MINISTER, THE CHIEF CONSTABLE AND THE LORD ADVOCATE THIS WEEK TO DISCUSS THE NEED FOR A PUBLIC INQUIRY
ON BEHALF OF THE FAMILY OF EMMA CALDWELL
The family Emma Caldwell are due to meet with the First Minister Humza Yousaf, The Chief Constable Jo Farrell and The Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week respectively.
MEETING WITH FIRST MINISTER – TUESDAY 5th MARCH 2024, 1pm
Emma’s mother Margaret Caldwell along with her family and their lawyer, Aamer Anwar, will meet with the First Minister on Tuesday 5th March 2024 at 1pm at Bute House, 5 Charlotte Square, Edinburgh EH2 4DR. This follows Margarets demands for a Public Inquiry into the failings surrounding the investigation into the murder of her daughter Emma Caldwell.
During First Minister’s Questions last week the First Minister had said “A judge-led public inquiry is something that we’re exploring, is absolutely not off the table and is something we’re giving very serious consideration to given the systemic failings in this case”.
Margaret and the family will arrive for the meeting at about 12:50pm.
There will be a short Press Conference on the steps of Bute House following the meeting with the First Minister at around 2:15pm on Tuesday 5th March 2024.
MEETING WITH CHIEF CONSTABLE – WEDNESDAY 6th MARCH 2024, 1:30pm
On Wednesday 6th March 2024 the family and Aamer Anwar will meet with the Chief Constable at 1:30pm at 5 Fettes Ave, Edinburgh EH4 1RB.
Margaret and the family will arrive for the meeting at about 1:15pm.
There will be a short Press Conference outside the Police Station following the meeting with he Chief Constable at around 3pm on Wednesday 6th March.
MEETING WITH LORD ADVOCATE – THURSDAY 7th MARCH 2024, 10:30am
On Thursday 7th March 2024 the family and Aamer Anwar will meet with the Lord Advocate at 10:30am at Crown Office, 25 Chambers Street; Edinburgh, EH1 1LA.
Margaret and the family will arrive for the meeting at about 10:15am.
There will be a short Press Conference outside the Crown Office following the meeting with the Lord Advocate at around 12:00pm on Thursday 7th March
