PRESS RELEASE – 26TH JULY 2023 – SCOTTISH COVID-19 PUBLIC INQUIRY BEGINS WITH EPIDEMIOLOGY PRESENTATION WEDNESDAY 26TH JULY 2023
SCOTTISH COVID BEREAVED TO SPEAK OUT AT PRESS CONFERENCE ON OPENING DAY OF INQUIRY
Press statement by Aamer Anwar- Lead Solicitor on behalf the Scottish Covid Bereaved.
Today, 26th July 2023 at 10am, marks the start of the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry.
The Inquiry begins with an epidemiology ‘presentation’ by Dr Ashley Croft on the scientific and medical understanding of Coronavirus and COVID-19 as it existed in late 2019 and developed during the pandemic, up until the end of 2022.
The presentation will be taking place in F20, Fulton Building, University of Dundee, Small’s Lane, Dundee, DD1 4HR and is set to last two days, sitting from 10am until 4pm.
Members of the Scottish Covid Bereaved, who we represent at both the Scottish and UK Covid-19 Inquiries, will be in attendance.
Our client’s held an emergency meeting on Sunday, following press reports and their legal team’s own inquiries, they were left bewildered at why the Inquiry has chosen to start in the way with Dr Croft.
Several family members will speak at the press conference and are expected to be robust in their criticism of the failure to address the concerns they have raised.
The bereaved always stated they would not sit silently to be part of any box-ticking exercise.
The press conference will take place during the lunch break of Dr Croft’s presentation at 1pm in 1F06, Dalhousie Building, University of Dundee, Small’s Lane, Dundee, DD1 4HR – this is just one minute across the road from the Fulton Building.
